Confinis was founded in 2019 within the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, a place of continuous research and development in the historically informed performance practice.
The desire to explore a repertoire that enhances both the chamber and solo roles of each musician has led the group to take a particular interest in the evolution of technique and timbre of the individual instruments, so as to develop a personal "stile concertante" that is both inventive and historically informed.
The group’s repertoire varies between music for solo instrument with basso continuo and sonatas for three instruments. Confinis puts the spotlight on the stylistic and formal development of instrumental music (mainly Italian) within a century of history, starting from the seventeenth century with Antonio Stradella and ending in the mid-eighteenth century with Francesco Maria Veracini.
